On the 27th of February, we find out if we have just one little blueberry growing or two. I say blueberry because that's the estimated size of the baby at 7 weeks. I'm feeling like I'm larger than I'm supposed to be, but maybe that's just me. If it were twins, I'd have no idea where they would go inside my little 5' frame, but I have friends that are wishfully thinking that I should carry twins.
None the less, I was hoping for an easier pregnancy for my last baby and husband promised that his genetics wouldn't make me sick, but they have. I was in the ER on Saturday for fluids as I couldn't keep anything down and was getting dehydrated. They gave me two bags of fluids and Zofran in my IV to help me feel better. I've already determined that "it's one and done, son!" If we get one or two or three... this is the end of baby baking for me.
I did have a "good day" Sunday marked by nausea, but no vomiting, and the same for Monday. Those aren't that awful, but the nausea meds keep me sleepy and in bed most of the day. But that goodness couldn't last too long.
Come Tuesday at 2 am, like clockwork, the dry heaves hit. I was up all night with that and let me tell you, it was miserable. By that time, I didn't have food to throw up, so it was all just a bunch of bile. That crap tastes bitter! I've told friends before, that when I'm throwing up that hard, I fully expect to see my toes come out of my mouth.
Which brings me to my next topic. Hyperemesis gravidarum, or HG for short. It's morning sickness so bad that you can't keep anything down. Pretty much what I have with all of my pregnancies, the entire time. With my last babies, I was in the hospital maybe once a week for dehydration and preterm labor because of HG. With my first, I just thought it was normal and toughed it out... the second and third were awful, and this one is trending to be similar.
Things that I have found helpful for helping with symptoms - so far are Oyster Crackers, Bundaberg (non-alcoholic) Ginger Beer, watered down Kirkland Pressed Apple Juice, and mashed potatoes. The ginger beer is kind of expensive, coming in at about $1.50 a bottle, but that's cheaper than a $75 copay at the ER. There are times when it feels like I'll never be better, and moments of relief from the nausea where I feel pretty good. I just wish it would stay consistent.
That's about all I have to write about for now. Just figure I'll keep my pregnancy updates on my blog and off of Facebook.
Be blessed!
Hope you feel better soon! Wish we were closer and I could take some newborn photos for you!
