Final Thoughts For The Night

Last things before my nausea meds kick in.

I'm guessing a delivery date of September 18, close to the mama! (I'm the 12th but that would make about a 36 week baby) October 8th will probably be too hard to hold onto. Doctor did say that a different dad could mean different outcome... but with three out of three with hyperemesis gravidarum (throwing up all the time) and preeclampsia at 32 weeks, I don't have the odds in my favor. It has a 15% chance of reoccurring in subsequent pregnancies but I'm batting 💯 sooooo.... yeah.

Also...

I have some important calls to make tomorrow about trying to return to work. I am the only one working a "job-job" and I need the income to help this family stay afloat. Staying on leave just won't cut it.  Prayers, vibes, thoughts, good Voodoo... whatever you got that can help, this little mama, I would appreciate it a lot.

I'm hoping when the worst of this is over I can have a role at work where I can throw up if I have to and nobody know. (doctor thinks it should lessen in the next two - four weeks.) I'm hoping for a lateral move into a Chat role if medically necessary is determined by my doctor, which at this point I'm sure any human would say barfing while talking is not good for business no matter what line of business you're in!  Otherwise, I will be leave until I'm delivered and then post-partum... and I don't want that!!

I just need peace to know things will work out like they're supposed to, I guess. It's hard having so much unknown!! I'm overwhelmed and just needing to breathe.

Prayers are going up tonight for my friends, my loved ones and myself. I know God can answer prayers and work wonders. I've just gotta be patient.

Love and blessings to all! XO Amy

8 weeks 1 day

So post OB update for those who are interested:

- Ultrasound today measured me at 8 weeks and four days but they're sticking with the original due date of 10/8.  (I usually deliver early because of preeclampsia conditions where my feet swell like
meatloaf and I get really puffy, so I'll probably have a September baby.)  And, yes, only one baby!

- Dry heaves while in the doctors office, twice! So embarrassing!

- Labs drawn

-Talked about Down Syndrome statistics and the fact I'm at higher risk due to age... About a 1 in 220 chance.  Also discussed the screening that can be done by lab work now instead of an amnio... yay!

- Talked about blood screening to make sure I don't have an RH factor or anything.

- Discussed the preeclampsia I had with previous pregnancies and how I am usually induced at 37 weeks.

Did you know that a woman over the age of 35 having a baby used to be called ELDERLY?!  Yeah me either! LOL I'm like great, can I have a depends now? LOL

I certainly don't feel my age, but I know I'm 35.  So odd. Having another baby just feels odd.

So in another four weeks - more lab work and baby check and I'm out of my first trimester.  This is the worst phase for morning sickness so I'm holding on to hope that it gets better.

Fingers crossed. XO

7 Weeks 3 Days Pregnant

On the 27th of February, we find out if we have just one little blueberry growing or two.  I say blueberry because that's the estimated size of the baby at 7 weeks.  I'm feeling like I'm larger than I'm supposed to be, but maybe that's just me.  If it were twins, I'd have no idea where they would go inside my little 5' frame, but I have friends that are wishfully thinking that I should carry twins.

None the less, I was hoping for an easier pregnancy for my last baby and husband promised that his genetics wouldn't make me sick, but they have.  I was in the ER on Saturday for fluids as I couldn't keep anything down and was getting dehydrated.  They gave me two bags of fluids and Zofran in my IV to help me feel better.  I've already determined that "it's one and done, son!"  If we get one or two or three... this is the end of baby baking for me.

I did have a "good day" Sunday marked by nausea, but no vomiting, and the same for Monday.  Those aren't that awful, but the nausea meds keep me sleepy and in bed most of the day.  But that goodness couldn't last too long.

Come Tuesday at 2 am, like clockwork, the dry heaves hit.  I was up all night with that and let me tell you, it was miserable.  By that time, I didn't have food to throw up, so it was all just a bunch of bile.  That crap tastes bitter!  I've told friends before, that when I'm throwing up that hard, I fully expect to see my toes come out of my mouth.

Which brings me to my next topic.  Hyperemesis gravidarum, or HG for short.  It's morning sickness so bad that you can't keep anything down.  Pretty much what I have with all of my pregnancies, the entire time.  With my last babies, I was in the hospital maybe once a week for dehydration and preterm labor because of HG.  With my first, I just thought it was normal and toughed it out... the second and third were awful, and this one is trending to be similar.

Things that I have found helpful for helping with symptoms - so far are Oyster Crackers, Bundaberg (non-alcoholic) Ginger Beer, watered down Kirkland Pressed Apple Juice, and mashed potatoes.  The ginger beer is kind of expensive, coming in at about $1.50 a bottle, but that's cheaper than a $75 copay at the ER.  There are times when it feels like I'll never be better, and moments of relief from the nausea where I feel pretty good.  I just wish it would stay consistent.

That's about all I have to write about for now.  Just figure I'll keep my pregnancy updates on my blog and off of Facebook.

Be blessed!

I'm back!

I've lost access to this blog for the better part of almost 5 years, and I remembered the password one night and I'm BACK!  I forgot how therapeutic it can be to write and get things out in the open without having to tell the whole world, just those who care to read it.

Biggest news first.

1) Jason and I divorced in August of 2013.  He now lives in Texas with his new wife and her children and I'm in Idaho still with the girls.  We've made this home.

2) I remarried a wonderful man, who I love to bits, last March (2016) named Conrad.

3) We are expecting our first baby together in October! I'm scared and nervous as pregnancies are rather hard on me.

That's a positive test! Tested at 4 days past missed period.

4) I lost my dad in September of 2015.  Unexpected and very heartbreaking.

And that's the biggest news.

I'm grateful I have access to this again... It's been so long since I've been able to dump things here that I don't feel like Facebook needs to know.  But it is here if someone finds it.  So I'll come back here and dump like I used to.  I think it will save heartache later and be good for me to look back on.  I have to document this baby one way or another!
