Leaving On A Jet Plane...

I'm not certain yet what to give this blog for a name yet, though I'm sure it will come to me soon. It's been an emotional day for me as I put my mother back on a plane to California. As I write this, she's probably in air now and teary eyed knowing the next time she will likely visit, my kids will be one year older and she will have missed quite a bit of growing up.

This morning, I woke up, checked the time and did the math for the countdown hours until my mom had to go home. The tension - emotional tension - in the air was thick. I felt like falling apart at any given moment but tried my best to hold it together for my mom and kids. Knowing that my children will be asking for Nana at bedtime in 4 hours is gonna be hard to explain to the little ones. They know that they had their Nana here, and we took her to the airport just like Jimmy and Cody... but I don't think that they understand the next time they see her it will likely be a long time.

On the way to the airport, I stopped at the Sonic in Nampa to treat my mom one last time, because there's no Sonic in California yet, though now I hear they're building one in Victorville... It was sad though, to sit there in the car with my mom, knowing I was driving her away.

When we got to the airport, she gave her sad good-byes and I love you's to the kids while I loaded her luggage to the curb. I remember thinking, I can just load her back up and take her with me.... she doesn't have to go. When it came time to hug mom goodbye, I cried and cried. I remember whispering in her ear, 'you don't have to go mom...' and she just cried. After the I love you's and the adieus, she was off through the small Boise airport terminal and I was on the highway, trying my best to comfort my crying children and myself while driving home...

I'm horribly foggy eyed while writing this... I'll write more tonight or tomorrow about the things I said I would catch you faithful readers on...

*for now, just a bit of pillow time to cry it out and a little prayer to make it through the night*
